The JUNO Awards have been Canada’s preeminant celebration of music since their inception in 1970. Over the years, the awards have grown from a one-night industry event held exclusively in Toronto, to a coast to coast weeklong celebration hosted by a different city each year. Entering its 47th year, the brand faced somewhat of an identity crisis. Multiple looks, that changed annually created a lack of cohesion across the brand. J. Walter Thompson was tasked with creating a singular look and voice that could be applied across various platforms and reflect the brands evolving mandate. Starting by calling the organization what they’ve been casually referred to for years: the JUNOS, we developed a custom logotype and a standardized system for the awards show and its numerous events. The bold new look confidently reaffirms the JUNOS role in the music industry as a whole as well as the artists community, and helps to usher in an exciting new era in Canadian music.
